2024 Prepared Vegan Holiday Meal Options Compared
2023-2024 Sprouts Prepackaged Vegan Roast Meal
Sprouts offers a Vegan Roast Meal for 2-3 people for $49.99. The box includes a vegan roast, cornbread stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, gravy, and cranberry sauce. All items are pre-cooked and prepackaged. Your only job is to warm them up. Sprouts recommends you allow 2 hours to prepare the feast. We tasted every item. Here are our thoughts.
Field Roast Celebration Roast
This Field Roast Celebration Plant-based Roast is flavored with sage and garlic and served with porcini mushroom gravy. It comes frozen and has to be thawed in the refrigerator for 24 hours before cooking. The Vegan Roast wasn’t our favorite, but it wasn’t inedible.
Cornbread Stuffing
The Plant-Based Cornbread Stuffing had just the right amount of savory herbs and spices. It was delicious with the porcini mushroom gravy, too.
Green Bean Casserole
This dish felt like a new take on Green Bean Casserole. It contained flavorful green beans with mushrooms in a delicious sauce. The Green Bean Casserole was tasty and had an unexpected, sweet undertone.
Sweet Potato Casserole
This Sweet Potato Casserole was our favorite dish by far. It was sweet, delightful, and mouthwatering. We even went back for seconds.
Cranberry Sauce
What holiday meal is complete without cranberry sauce? This sauce is sweet, a little tangy, and just right for dressing up roasts and stuffing.
Porcini Mushroom Gravy
The Field Roast Celebration Roast included a dry pack of delicious porcini mushroom gravy. Even though the recipe called for making it with water, we used unsweetened almond milk instead to increase the creaminess. It made a great addition to both the roast and the stuffing.
Even though Sprouts requires a notice of 48 hours (about two days), they may sell each item separately on shelves. Orders for these items will resume on December 4th. These feasts run $49.99 with a maximum sale of 2 per person. The cost of buying each item one by one is about the same as purchasing a prepackaged meal.
Whole Foods Vegan Holiday Feast
Whole Foods also offers a plant-based feast for two for $39.99, and their food selections are unique and fancy. Their box contains Pumpkin Curry Soup, Mushroom and Root Vegetable En Croute, Roasted Fingerlings with Garlic and Parsley, Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper Green Beans, and Roasted Butternut Squash. These dishes may be topped off with Cranberries and Sage or Mushroom Gravy. We even added a vegan pumpkin pie to our order for an extra $14.99. Here are our thoughts after tasting every item.
Pumpkin Curry Soup
This savory soup received mixed reviews from our tasters. Some thought it was delicious. Others were not so impressed. If you give it a try, let us know what you think.
Mushroom and Root Vegetable En Croute
The Mushroom and Root Vegetable En Croute tasted amazing. This vegan pastry filled with root vegetables was something we had never tasted before. We had numerous servings in a row. There were no leftovers.
Roasted Fingerlings with Garlic and Parsley
These scrumptious fingerling potatoes had plenty of garlic and other seasonings. They were very flavorful and quite tasty.
Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper Green Beans
The green beans had the perfect snap when you bit into them, but some of us liked them more than others. One taster said they could use less oil and more flavor while another really enjoyed their smokey flavor.
Roasted Butternut Squash
The Roasted Butternut Squash was quite surprising. We were not expecting such a delicious treat, but the cranberries and sage, alongside just the perfect number of spices, made this dish very savory and just a little bit spicy.
Vegan Pumpkin Pie (Sold Separately)
The holiday feast did not include the pumpkin pie, but we added it to our order for $14.99. It was just as delicious as you would expect it to be. The pie made the perfect dessert after such a hearty meal.
