As this year comes to a close and we reflect back on 2024, one thing is clear: it’s been an inspiring year for Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM) and for the animal rights movement. From powerful global campaigns to inspiring local events, our team’s relentless dedication to ending the use of animals for food has sparked meaningful change in communities worldwide.
With every action, proclamation, and conversation, we’ve brought the vision of a compassionate, plant-based future closer to reality. Join us as we look back on the milestones we achieved together—milestones made possible by the passionate drive of our staff, supporters, and volunteers to make a difference for the animals, the planet, and future generations.

MeatOut: A Global Movement for Change
In 2024, MeatOut inspired activists nationwide, leading to “MeatOut Day” proclamations in cities such as New York City, Washington, DC, and Durham, NC, and the state of West Virginia. MeatOut was proclaimed for 18.7 million residents along the Eastern Seaboard, encouraging them to remove meat from their plates for a day. The campaign garnered extensive media coverage, including editorials in the New York Daily News and the San Francisco Chronicle, reaching over 20 million people. In-person events, including leafleting during Washington, DC’s Cherry Blossom Festival, where we distributed thousands of educational materials and vegan product samples to throngs of sight-seers and tourists, further promoting plant-based lifestyles.
Planet Series Events
In 2024, the Planet Series Events—Planet Virginia, Planet Maryland, and Planet Delaware—collectively engaged over 10,000 attendees, fostering a deeper understanding of plant-based living and its benefits. Planet Virginia, held on April 21st in Herndon, attracted more than 3,000 participants who enjoyed diverse vegan cuisines, educational booths, and inspiring talks from prominent figures in the plant-based and environmental movements. On June 2nd, Planet Maryland welcomed approximately 4,000 visitors to Elm Street Park in Bethesda, offering a curated selection of multicultural plant-based foods, an electric car show, and engaging activities for all ages. Planet Delaware, hosted from September 13-15 in Rehoboth Beach, featured a Friday film screening, an outdoor festival with cooking demonstrations and speakers, an art reception, and a vegan brunch. These events not only provided delicious plant-based options but also educated thousands on the health, environmental, and ethical advantages of a vegan lifestyle, leaving a lasting positive impact on the communities they served.

World Day for Farmed Animals
In 2024, World Day for Farmed Animals (WDFA) marked its 41st anniversary with impactful global activities aimed at raising awareness about the suffering of animals raised and killed for food. Demonstrations, protests, tabling events, and the #FastAgainstSlaughter were organized worldwide, highlighting the plight of farmed animals. Notably, WDFA secured proclamations from the state of Louisiana, Puerto Rico, and Baltimore, Maryland, recognizing the day’s significance and reflecting a growing awareness and support for farmed animal rights.
In August FARM’s Executive Director travelled to London to join Animal Aid UK and thousands of other vegans in the National Animal Rights March UK. With a powerful banner tied to WDFA, FARM continued to disseminate their mission through the streets of England’s capital city.
FARM’s Compassionate Activist Network (CAN) played a vital role in WDFA’s outreach efforts, supporting individuals eager to take action for animals through literature distribution, outreach, and participation in initiatives like the #FastAgainstSlaughter. These grassroots efforts ignited interest and action among the next generation of advocates, aligning with FARM’s broader mission to inspire change at every level.
We eagerly anticipate seeing you at any of our upcoming events and encourage you to sign up for our Compassionate Activist Network.
FARM’s Pride Tour 2024
In 2024, FARM’s Pride Tour broke new ground by harnessing the energy of Pride events to amplify its mission, reaching millions with messages of compassion and inclusivity. FARM participated in events in Washington, DC, New York City, Denver, Baltimore, and internationally in Puerto Rico and Mexico City. FARM connected with the LGBTQ+ community, a group especially receptive to the vegan message of love and compassion. At DC Pride alone, the team distributed 15,000 postcards, leaflets, and other materials to an enthusiastic audience of over 600,000 attendees. In every city, the Pride Tour highlighted the intersection of freedom, love, and bodily autonomy—values deeply cherished by both the vegan and LGBTQ+ communities—normalizing veganism in spaces where kindness and justice thrive.
Beyond the numbers, the Pride Tour achieved something profound: it shifted perceptions of vegans and activism itself. Gone was the outdated “angry vegan” stereotype, replaced with images of smiling, compassionate advocates engaging meaningfully with curious attendees. At Baltimore Pride, conversations led by a certified vegan nutritionist opened doors for plant-based eating, while in New York City, FARM’s presence sparked excitement with people asking for photos, literature, and resources. From candy to coloring books, FARM discovered new ways to resonate with attendees, laying the groundwork for an even bigger 2025 tour. The Pride Tour is proof that by meeting people where they are, the vegan movement can inspire the masses to embrace a more compassionate future.
Special Projects & Online Initiatives
In 2024, FARM expanded its digital outreach to ensure vegans and pre-vegans of all ages felt supported and inspired. The VeganVideos.org website continued to serve as a dynamic hub, offering educational and motivational content to empower individuals on their plant-based journey. Meanwhile, new initiatives like the Special Interest Program provided tailored resources and interactive experiences to deepen connections within the vegan community. The launch of the BKind2AllKinds YouTube channel introduced heartwarming, youth-focused content that showcased young people interacting with farmed animals, fostering empathy and a lifelong love for all creatures. By leveraging these online platforms, FARM is nurturing a compassionate generation ready to embrace a kinder, more equitable world for animals.
Vegan Earth Day & Educational Contributions
On April 22, 2024, FARM proudly participated in Vegan Earth Day, using the global spotlight of Earth Day to highlight the powerful connection between plant-based living and environmental preservation. With the theme “Eating Animals Kills Our Planet,” FARM distributed thousands of educational leaflets at key events in Durham, Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico, spreading the urgent message that going vegan is the most impactful step an individual can take to combat climate change and protect the Earth’s natural resources. Through a strategic tie-in with Animal Outlook’s VegWeek and engaging content across digital platforms, FARM amplified awareness of how animal agriculture contributes to deforestation, water pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. By aligning the needs of the planet with the values of a compassionate lifestyle, FARM’s efforts on Vegan Earth Day empowered countless individuals to make choices that honor both the Earth and its inhabitants.
Publishing & Advocacy: Spreading the Vegan Message
In 2024, thanks to a generous donor, we distributed 5,000+ My Farm Friends coloring books featuring illustrations by Ruby Roth. Through parades, events, marches, and more, these playful coloring books set out to remind kids of their love for all animals. We’re hoping to reprint these popular publications in 2025.

Media Outreach & Compassionate Holiday Campaigns
FARM sent two dozen editorial letters promoting veganism to hundreds of newspapers in the U.S. and Canada resulting in more than 6,785,000 in circulation, including a special letter from Santa Claus reaching millions more.
Throughout 2024, FARM’s Compassionate Holidays program offered invaluable support to individuals seeking to celebrate traditional festivities with compassion and mindfulness. By providing a wealth of vegan recipes, practical tips, and insightful guidance, the program empowered countless families to honor their cultural traditions while making ethical choices that align with their values. From plant-based versions of classic holiday dishes to strategies for navigating family gatherings, Compassionate Holidays served as a trusted resource, fostering inclusivity and kindness during special occasions. This initiative not only enriched holiday experiences but also strengthened the community’s commitment to compassionate living. This past year we added Ramadan and Holi to the growing list of holidays.
