Every year since 2012, GivingTuesday reminds us of the transformative power of kindness and generosity. Each Tuesday after the United States celebrates Thanksgiving, people from over 90 countries come together to uplift their communities, support meaningful causes, and inspire hope through even the smallest acts of giving.
It’s easy for everyone to show support for their favorite organizations by donating to a nonprofit, volunteering their time, or simply spreading kindness in their neighborhood. Every charitable action adds to a global ripple of compassion. Giving Tuesday is a movement that proves we all have the power to create positive change, no matter how big or small our contributions may seem.

No Act of Kindness is Too Small on Giving Tuesday
Each of us has the ability to create change with our actions, decisions, and behavior. Even a small act of kindness counts as a worthy act. No act is too small. GivingTuesday works to build shared humanity and generosity. They recognize that each of us has different talents and abilities that we can use in productive ways. “We all have gifts and talents to give; we all have wants and needs. Each generous action is a chance to connect, serve, and uplift one another.”
Show Generosity and Inspire Kindness on GivingTuesday
GivingTuesday inspires each of us to practice radical generosity, not only on November 28th but also every other day of the year. Radical Generosity is the idea that the suffering of others should be as intolerable to us as our own suffering. We should do what we can to help ease the problems of others.
There are different ways to be generous and kind. Some contribute to their favorite cause, while others volunteer, start advocacy campaigns, donate extra supplies and goods, and more. Always remember that every step counts.
Getting Involved on Giving Tuesday
What can you do on GivingTuesday? Here are just a few more ideas.
– Find a local fundraiser or event where giving back is the primary goal. Join with those who have the same interests as you.
– Show your neighbor’s kindness. Check on people who live alone, give them a hand with errands, or simply have a friendly visit. These small acts may mean the world to those who receive your kindness or generosity.
– Share your talents by volunteering in person or virtually. Each of us is talented in our own way. What are your talents? Use your strengths to do good things for others.
– Speak up for causes that matter to you. Give people the tools they need to understand the importance of your cause. If no one ever speaks up, the problem will never be solved.
– Donate to your favorite cause. It takes a lot to keep a nonprofit afloat. If you have a few extra dollars in your pocket, do not hesitate to share them with your organizations needing funding to better the world as much as possible, like the FARM Animal Rights Movement.
– Use the hashtag “GivingTuesday” in your social posts. You are going to be on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram anyway. Let’s use some time to let people know about GivingTuesday.
There are unlimited ways to express generosity and kindness. GivingTuesday’s website offers many ideas. Some of them are bound to be useful to you. Use your talents in the best way possible. Your generosity is only limited by your imagination. GivingTuesday officially occurs on November 28th, but it can and does happen every single day of the year. We all deserve a little kindness from time to time.
