The Ultimate Vegan-Friendly Guide to Halloween Horror Nights 2025
Spooky season is upon us again, and Universal Studios is up to its usual frightful tricks with Halloween Horror Nights 34. This year’s festival features 10 haunted houses, four scare zones, and two shows, along with plenty of entertainment and, of course, food and drinks. Halloween Horror Nights runs on select nights from August 29 to November 2, so do not miss out.
The Ultimate Guide to Vegan Food at HHN 34
Halloween Horror Nights Event-Themed Plant-Based Food
The themed vegan food offerings are somewhat limited this year but no worries, there are plenty of options available during the event, so you will not have to go hungry while you confront your fears.
Pumpkin Séance
The Pumpkin Séance can be found in the Today Cafe and the San Francisco Pastry Co. You can also find it at Croissant Bakery if you are visiting Islands of Adventure. This creamy pumpkin mousse topped with chocolate granola crumbles costs $6.99.
Artist’s Palette
The Artist’s Palette, a returning favorite with a different name, is at El Artista: A Spanish Haunting Food Booth in Cafe La Bamba. These crispy granulated sugar churros are delicious with raspberry jam and Bavarian cream “paint”. Skip the dulce de leche sauce for a vegan treat. The Artist’s Palette costs $7.99.
Vegan Pizza Fries
Vegan Pizza Fries are a staple at Halloween Horror Nights. You can purchase them at DreamWorks Imagination Café (formerly KidZone Pizza Co.). These tasty French fries come topped with marinara sauce, and vegan cheese, pepperoni, and sausage crumbles. This filling dish will cost you $11.99.
Fritos Vegan Walking Taco
The Fritos Vegan Walking Taco is another returning favorite. You will find them near Hollywood/Animal Actors, behind the Cat Lady of Crooked Lane’s house. They come with vegan chorizo crumble, salsa verde, and cilantro atop crispy Fritos. The Fritos Vegan Walking Taco is $14.99.
“Mom, Cut the Crust Off” PB&J
The “Mom, Cut the Crust Off” PB&J is at the Dolls: Let’s Play Dead Food Booth in World Expo/Simpsons Food Truck. This decadent PB&J is fried and topped with maple syrup and chili flakes. It may be prepared in a shared fryer, however. If this does not present a problem for you, then chow down. The “Mom, cut the crust off” PB&J costs $7.99
African Lentil Coffin
The African Lentil Coffin has appeared at previous Horror Nights, and it is back again. Find it at Avenue Bites this year. The permanent booth is in New York, across from The Mummy. This flaky, coffin-shaped pastry is filled with African lentils and spiced potatoes. It costs $8.99.
Vegan Treats After Modifications
There are three more HHN-themed snacks that can be made vegan with specific modifications this year:
Twisted Tater Chips
The Twisted Tater Chips are a new take on an old favorite, the Twisted Tater. Unfortunately, the spicy cheddar and ranch & vinegar seasonings are not vegan. Ask if you can have your chips plain instead. You will find these crunchy potato chips in the Music Plaza in New York. The Twisted Tater Chips cost $9.99.
Elotes
The Jason Universe Food Booth offers up Elotes this year. Sadly, none of the toppings offered are vegan-friendly, so you will have to enjoy your fire-grilled corn on the husk plain. Simply order the Elotes as-is, then request your corn plain or with a sprinkle of tajin when you pick it up at the window. This grilled treat is $8.49.
Pan Con Tomate
The Pan con Tomate is another dish that you will find at El Artista: A Spanish Haunting Food Booth in Cafe La Bamba. Order the treat as-is, but request no cheese when you go to pick it up. You will be left with a snack reminiscent of spaghetti with garlic bread. The Pan con Tomate costs $7.99.
Vegan Drinks Available Throughout the Event
The following vegan drinks are available at various stands and locations during Halloween Horror Nights:
Tripping Animals Brewing Co. Fresh Fangs Sour
A bright, zesty sour ale conditioned with lime, strawberry, and raspberry, featuring balanced acidity and a smooth finish.
