EPCOT Food and Wine Festival 2024: A Plant-Based Delight
The EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival is back again. Twenty-nine food kiosks feature tasty and creative selections from 6 continents. You will find many new, plant-based selections alongside quite a few treats returning from previous years. Disney describes the Food and Wine festival as a “cornucopia of cultures, cuisines, and innovative cooking techniques from chefs worldwide.” From August 29 to November 23, explore a world of flavors. Enjoy a mix of returning favorites and exciting new vegan-friendly dishes.
World Celebration: Macatizers Booth
IMPOSSIBLE Chili Macaroni and Cheese
Drop by Macatizers in World Celebration’s brand-new CommuniCore Hall for a tasty macaroni treat. The IMPOSSIBLE Chili Macaroni and Cheese comes with Fritos, black olives, plant-based sour cream, and cheddar for $6.50.
The delicious, cheesy macaroni had just the right amount of salt and other spices. Fritos added a satisfying crunch, and sour cream topped everything off perfectly. A chili flavor was strong compared to the rest of the ingredients. It tasted best when all the ingredients were mixed together. The dish could have used a little more of the Fritos and black olives, but we still really enjoyed this comfort dish and gave it 4 out of 5 Bumblebees.
World Discovery: The Fry Basket
Adobo Yuca Fries with Garlic-Cilantro Aioli
The Adobo Yuca Fries come with a generous drizzle of garlic-cilantro aioli. If you adore creamy garlic and mayonnaise, these fries are a wonderful selection for you at only $5.75. We gave it 4 out of 5 Bumblebees.
Fry Flight (Modified)
The Fry Flight which costs $8.00 features three flavors of fries to taste test: Truffle-Parmesan, BBQ, and Sweet Potato. This year’s selections are not vegan as-is but can be modified to be vegan. Cast members working at the booth were absolutely amazing and very patient. They worked very hard to make the fries vegan for us.
Truffle-Parmesan Fries replace last year’s Sea Salt and Vinegar fries. Cast members fried them without parmesan just for us. They were tasty but super salty. We gave them 4 out of 5 Bumblebees.
We enjoyed the BBQ fries without the bacon and aioli. They have just a slight, spicy barbecue taste for a 4 out of 5 Bumblebees.
The Sweet Potato Fries were modified without candied pecans and marshmallows. They were delicious with just the maple glaze, which is vegan and very sweet. These were our favorite of the whole flight giving them a 5 out of 5 Bumblebees.
Flavors From Fire
IMPOSSIBLE Montreal Style Burger Slider
Flavors From Fire is near the Coca-Cola-hosted Refreshment Station. This year, the Flavors of Fire booth is offering an Impossible Montreal-style burger slider with cheddar and tomato jam on a sesame seed bun. Plant-based cheddar cheese replaces last year’s wasabi cream. Overall, the burger was very thick and salty. When we received our order, the cheese was not melted, but the jam had a unique and good flavor. We gave it 4 out of 5 Bumblebees. The IMPOSSIBLE Montreal Style Burger Slider costs $6.00.
Brew-Wing Lab at The Odyssey
IMPOSSIBLE Buffalo Chicken Tenders
Make your way to The Brew-Wing Lab in The Odyssey to try out some of the best the festival has to offer. The Impossible Buffalo Chicken Tenders are amazing with plant-based blue cheese, plant-based ranch, and celery. They are coated in a sour and salty buffalo sauce, and the plant-based blue cheese is delectable. We gave this spicy, tasty treat 5 out of 5 Bumblebees and it can be purchased for $7.75.
Frozen Pomegranate and Raspberry Tea
The Frozen Pomegranate and Raspberry Tea tastes very similar to an orange sherbet push pop. It is very sweet and even people who are not fond of raspberry flavors will love this one. We gave this $5.00 treat 4 out of 5 Bumblebees.
The Noodle Exchange
Ramen with Tofu
The Noodle Exchange is near Disney Traders. This booth offers one vegan dish that has been simliar every year for the past three years or more. This Ramen dish is $5.75 and comes with cubes of tofu, shiitake mushrooms, pickled carrots and daikon radish, shaved peppers, and baby bok choy in a citrus-sesame broth. Just as with previous years, this ramen dish was a huge disappointment. The broth was bland, greasy, and bitter, like a combination of ginger and lemon grass. Though more flavorful than last year, we still did not enjoy this one. It had a beautiful presentation, but the flavors were a huge miss. 1 out of 5 Bumblebees.
India Booth
Potato and Pea Samosas
The India booth is located in the World Showcase near China. They offer one vegan-friendly item, the Potato and Pea Samosas. The Potato and Pea Samosas are a flavor-filled, plant-based snack with coriander-lime cream. A buttery, flaky crust surrounds this spicy and peppery filling which has a slow heat that builds as you eat. The more you indulge, the spicier it gets. We gave it 4 out of 5 Bumblebees and it was $5.50.
Refreshment Outpost
IMPOSSIBLE Spicy Sausage
Refreshment Outpost, an African themed area, is settled in the World Showcase, right between China and Germany. The IMPOSSIBLE Spicy Sausage comes with piri piri peppers, onions, and topped with a plant-based piri piri aioli. Peppers and onions make this dish very spicy and the sauce adds a tart and vinegary flavor. Unfortunately the bun was soggy, and the dish was very salty overall but if you love Impossible sausage it still may be a winner for you. The Impossible Spicy Sausage dog can be yours for $6.50 and got a rating of 3 out of 5 Bumblebees.
Watermelon Dole Whip
Dole Whip is always a favorite for our crew and this sweet watermelon flavor did not disappoint. As usual, we give this frozen, delicious treat 5 out of 5 Bumblebees. The Watermelon Dole Whip can be purchased for $6.50 at the Refreshment Outpost near Africa.
Greece Booth
Plant-Based Impossible Moussaka
Greece is in the World Showcase between Morocco and Japan. They have one vegan option this year. This snack, which cost $5.50, was filled with impossible meat and vegetables, topped with potatoes, cheese, and a bechamel sauce. It had too much salt for our tastes, but we still enjoyed the dish. We gave it 4 out of 5 Bumblebees.
Tangierine Cafe: Flavors of the Medina
Fried Falafel Pita
Tangierine Café: Flavors of the Medina is a permanent location in Morocco that serves delicious foods year-round. They offer two vegan selections during the Food and Wine Festival. Their Fried Falafel Pita is stuffed with tomato-cucumber relish and plant-based tahini sauce. It was packed so full that we could barely lift it without ingredients falling out so we recommend a fork and knife to eat it. The tomato-cucumber relish tasted very fresh and paired quite nicely with the salty, moist falafel. This dish costs $5.50 and we gave it 4 out of 5 Bumblebees..
Stone-baked Moroccan Bread with Assorted Dips
This plant-based snack is usually one of our favorites, but we were disappointed this year. Moroccan bread comes with Hummus, Zaalouk, and Zhoug Dips. We have always loved these, but they were not as good as in previous festivals so we gave it 3 out of 5 Bumblebees this year. You can get this dish for $5.00.
Shimmering Sips Hosted by CORKCICLE
Guava Cake
Shimmering Sips, hosted by Corkcicle, can be found near the Port of Entry. This booth offers a delicious Guava Cake topped with plant-based whipped cream and shredded, toasted coconut. Moist, guava flavored cake is perfectly complimented by a creamy, sweet icing with crunchy coconut slivers that add just the right amount of flavor and texture. If you are a guava fan, take advantage of this treat. We gave the $5.00 Guava Cake 4 out of 5 Bumblebees.
A Vegan-Friendly World Feast at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival
Disney continues to innovate with plant-based options, making this year’s festival a must-visit. We had a great time trying out all of the plant-based options at EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival this year, just as we enjoyed the vegan options at EPCOT Food and Wine in 2023. Walt Disney World has been making great strides in including new vegan foods in all of its festivals, but this one always has the best selections. If you attend the festival this year, let us know which of these are your favorites.
