Veg-Curious? Discover Fall VegFests in NY, CO, and NC

VegFests provide unique opportunities to extend our message of compassionate living to thousands of people every year. They are like the ultimate hangout for anyone who is curious about plant-based living. A vegfest is a community hub where you can chow down on amazing vegan eats while learning cool stuff about health, the planet, and the animals. It is also a great place to connect with people who get it (or will eventually “get it”). This is where longtime vegans come to vibe and “pre-vegans” (aka “veg-curious”) come to see what all the buzz is about.

There’s no better place to feed minds, bellies, and hearts all at once.

Meet The Skeptical Vegan at Upcoming Fall VegFest Events

I’m honored to be invited to three vegfests this Fall. I look forward to informing and entertaining vegans and pre-vegans on plant-based eating and a vegan lifestyle while promoting my books (The Skeptical Vegan and Raising Vegan Kids). I will also enjoy sharing interesting details about FARM’s past and future programming, projects, and events.

Syracuse VegFest on September 21st, 2025

First up is Syracuse VegFest on Sunday, September 21st. Last year, I was invited to do a talk about going vegan overnight. This year, when the event returns to the New York State Fairgrounds, I will be the emcee.

The Syracuse VegFest main stage will feature James F. Loomis Jr., M.D., M.B.A. James is a board-certified doctor of internal and lifestyle medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. A frequent international speaker on the health benefits of a whole-food, plant-based diet and lifestyle, he’s featured in the documentary The Game Changers and serves as medical director at the Center for Plant-Based Living. He also co-hosts the YouTube channel The Doc and Chef.

Also speaking will be plant-based nutrition and culinary educator Caryn Dugan, known as STLVegGirl. After surviving cancer in 2008, Caryn adopted a whole-food, plant-based diet for immunity and now helps others do the same.

Veganizing Your Favorites with Live Cooking Demos

In addition to the vendors and exhibitors during the day-long event, there will be a cooking demo featuring Dan Williamson – a psychiatrist by day, and a vegan chef by night. Dan really enjoys cooking and experimenting to veganize his favorite dishes. He has volunteered to lead several cooking classes for the Syracuse Vegan Living Program, where he has been a mentor for several years.

Get Your Book Signed at VegFest Colorado on September 28th in Denver

The following weekend on Sunday, September 28th, you’ll find me a mile high at VegFest Colorado on Auraria Campus in Denver emceeing and offering show-special book signings.

Spend Two Days in Asheville, North Carolina

Did you know that in 2024 Mayor Manheimer signed a proclamation proclaiming March 20 as MeatOut Day in Asheville? Started in 1985, MeatOut is one of FARM’s tentpole programs. Mayor Manheimer showed her support for a plant-based diet that improves human health, helps heal the planet, and saves animals and now I am headed to Asheville to thank them.

Join me Saturday, October 4th for the Educational Day at AB Tech as I welcome prestigious speakers, dynamic cooking demos, and an informative panel about the “Impact of Stress on a Diet” to the main stage. Then, on Sunday, October 5th we can all network and celebrate going vegan at the Festival Day at Pack Square Park.
