Deep in The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida sits Adventureland, an exotic world where explorers from around the globe come to seek fantastic experiences and find their fortune. LTD Skipper Canteen.

Discovering a Plant-Based Adventure in Skipper Canteen in Walt Disney WorldDiscovering a Plant-Based Adventure in Skipper Canteen in Walt Disney World

After guiding your ship through the Nile, Amazon, and Congo Rivers, your skipper invites you to tag along for a flavor-filled feast at their tropical headquarters, Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen. You will find The Skipper Canteen right across from The Swiss Family Treehouse between Sunshine Tree Terrace and Island Supply. This casual dining restaurant offers an array of African, Asian, and Latin cuisine.

You can try out their exotic flavors in one of three dining areas:

  1. A colonial-era mess hall for the crew
  1. Dr. Albert Falls’ former family parlor, The Jungle Room
  1. A secret meeting place for members of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers, The S.E.A. Room

We visited Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen and compiled a list of the plant based offerings you will find there.

Plant Based Appetizers at Skipper Canteen

Lost and Found Seasonal Carrot & Ginger SoupLost and Found Seasonal Carrot & Ginger Soup

As with any restaurant menu, the soup of the day varies. The Skipper Canteen offers the “chef’s seasonal soup prepared with the freshest unclaimed cargo!” Ask your skipper which soup is available and whether it is vegan.

We were lucky enough to sample a West African-inspired Carrot and Ginger Soup when we visited the canteen. It was made with carrot, ginger, and peanuts with chives and coconut milk. We really enjoyed the savory combination of flavors in this soup. If you are not fond of coconut, however, steer clear. The soup had a very strong Coconut oil flavor.

We gave the West African-inspired Carrot and Ginger Soup 3 out of 5 Bumblebees and it will set you back $10.00.

Jungle Green Salad at Skipper Canteen in Disney World's Magic KingdomJungle Green Salad

Next, we tried the Jungle Green Salad. It contained hearts of palm, pickled cucumbers, sugar snap peas, and sweet peppers with charred Shishito dressing and toasted Brazil nuts. The pickled cucumbers and semi-sweet dressing were the best part.

The Jungle Green Salad costs $11.00 and we rated it 3 out of 5 Bumblebees.

Falls Family Falafel at Skipper Canteen in Disney World's Magic KingdomFalls Family Falafel

The Falls Family Falafel is made from a secret recipe known only to our skippers. It tastes like those we tried in Morocco at EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival. They were very salty and a little spicy. A house-made edamame hummus and toasted pumpkin seeds made the perfect complementary dip.

The Falls Family Falafel costs $12.00 and our team gave this treat 4 out of 5 Bumblebees.

Curried Vegetable Crew Stew at Skipper Canteen in Disney World's Magic KingdomCurried Vegetable Crew Stew

This Curried Vegetable Crew Stew features roasted vegetables in a coconut-curry sauce atop Jasmine rice. The curry is prominent, as the name suggests, and the dish does not disappoint. It was one of our favorite selections.

The $23.00 price tag was much higher than the other options. Despite this, we gave the Curried Vegetable Crew Stew 4 out of 5 Bumblebees.

Panna-Connie’s Congo Lime Delight at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom Skipper Canteen RestaurantPanna-Connie’s Congo Lime Delight

We finished off our flavor adventure with Panna-Connie’s Congo Lime Delight. This delicious lime panna-cotta came alongside a mango-lime sorbet, fresh fruit, and a Brazil nut cookie. The unique mango coconut flavor had a hint of lime. It was surprisingly good and had a beautiful presentation. This dessert was a wonderful way to end our meal.

Panna-Connie’s Congo Lime Delight costs $9.50 and our crew rated it 4 out of 5 Bumblebees.
