Halloween Horror Nights 35 is in full swing with plenty of frights, fun, and food. Fortunately for vegan horror fans, Universal has a few vegan-friendly options to fuel your trek through spooky scare zones and terrifying haunted houses.
Spooky Vegan Snacks to Eat at Halloween Horror Nights 35
Running from scary monsters takes a lot of energy. When our batteries ran low, we took a break to indulge in some of these tasty treats. These items are either vegan as-is or can be made vegan with easy modifications.
Vegan Pizza Skull (vegan) $9.99
If you have already been to Epic Universe, you may have tried Yoshi’s green shell at Yoshi’s Snack Island in Super Nintendo World. Those who have will know exactly what to expect from this Vegan Pizza Skull. If you have not tried the green shell, you are in for a treat. This green vegan skull is filled with vegan Italian sausage, marinara sauce, and vegan mozzarella cheese. Find it at 57 Scare, near Downtown Clowntown, New York.
Twisted Tater Chips (modified vegan, gluten-free) $9.99
Find the Twisted Tater Chips at the Devilish Delights Food Booth in New York. Order these crunchy, spiralized potato chips plain. Just ask for no seasoning at the window. You may have to wait a minute while they whip up a new batch.
Fritos Vegan Walking Taco (vegan, gluten-free) $14.99
The Día de los Muertos booth near Animal Actors offers the Fritos Vegan Walking Taco. Crunchy Fritos are topped with vegan chili, Daiya shredded cheese, lettuce, and vegan sour cream. Pay close attention. The vegan and non-vegan bags look very similar. If you are very hungry, step over to the London Taxi near The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and purchase a plain potato. Top it with your Vegan Walking Taco ingredients. Princess and the Bear call this hack the Recovering Couch Potato.
Corn (modified vegan, gluten-free) $8.49
At Parkside Fare Food, order the Elotes without the elote. Ask for plain corn with no seasoning. You will get a cob of smoky, sweet corn to enjoy. Bring along a toothpick or some floss to get those corn kernels out of your teeth. They should really sell these at the park.
The Dead Vegan (vegan) $7.99
If you are in the mood for decadent chocolate, head to the Today Café or to San Francisco Bakery. Luckily, you can buy The Dead Vegan at both locations, since it was sold out the first time we tried to get it. This fudge-forward brownie is covered in a chocolate shell for a nice crunch and finished with a tombstone and bones. You can buy this item all day, not just during Horror Nights hours. You can also find it at Croissant Moon Bakery in Islands of Adventure.
Fried dough (vegan) $8.99
You will also find the Fried Dough at the Parkside Fare Food booth. Select powdered sugar as your topping. No extra modifications are needed to enjoy this simple, delicious dessert.
Vegan Pizza Fries (vegan) (gluten-free upon request) $11.99
Look for the Vegan Pizza Fries at Dreamworks Imagination Café beside SpongeBob StorePants. This returning dish has been featured at many Halloween Horror Nights. Enjoy crinkle-cut French fries topped with marinara sauce, vegan cheese, vegan sausage crumbles, and vegan pepperoni.
