Many restaurants have made great strides toward vegan-friendly selections for their customers. TGI Fridays, however, has been a little slow on the uptake of plant-based options. You can modify a couple of the dishes, but unfortunately, most cannot be modified for vegan diners. Even TGIF’s Beyond Meat burger requires modifications to make it vegan friendly. But don’t worry, if you still want to enjoy a meal at TGI Fridays, we’ve put together a guide to eating plant-based at TGIFridays.
Plant Based Appetizers at TGIF
Chips and Salsa (Shared Fryer)
Start your TGI Fridays meal with some Chips and Salsa. Keep in mind that the chips are cooked in a shared fryer, so cross-contamination is possible. If this is not a concern, Chips and Salsa are the perfect vegan appetizer.
Vegan-Friendly Entrees at TGI Fridays
The Beyond Meat Cheeseburger (Modified Vegan)
The Beyond Meat Cheeseburger can easily be modified to be vegan. Order your burger with no cheese and no sauce. Choose the Challah bun or go Green and replace your bun with lettuce. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato, red onions, and pickles. Add ketchup and mustard if you would like sauce on your burger.
Pasta with Marinara Sauce
You might have to look at the kid’s menu to find this dish. Order the fettuccine pasta and select the tomato marinara sauce. Select your side from Fruit, Seasoned Fries, Plain Broccoli, or Garlic- Butter Broccoli with no parmesan butter. Even though it is on the kid’s menu, it can still be a delicious, filling meal.
Side Options for Vegans at TGIF
Seasoned Fries (Shared Fryer)
Seasoned Fries will make an excellent side for your Beyond Burger. All ingredients are vegan-friendly. However, if cross-contamination is a deal breaker for you, you may want to skip these. Because they are fried in shared oil, there is the possibility of cross-contamination.
Plain Broccoli
The Plain Broccoli is vegan as-is, and comes steamed with fresh lemon. Enjoy this rare opportunity to order with no modifications. Plain Broccoli will perfectly complement your Fettuccine with Marinara Sauce.
Garlic-Butter Broccoli (Modified Vegan)
If you prefer your broccoli without lemon, the Garlic-Butter Broccoli can easily be modified. Order this dish with no parmesan butter, and you are good to go. Garlic-Butter Broccoli makes a fantastic addition to any meal.
Fresh Fruit
Find fresh Fruit on the kid’s menu or ask your server what fruits are available. Selections may vary from restaurant to restaurant. Fruit is great with any meal or even as a dessert.
Veganize Salads at TGIFridays
Million Dollar Cobb Salad (Modified Vegan)
The Million Dollar Cobb Salad requires only a few modifications. Order this salad without chicken, egg, bacon, cheese, or ranch dressing. You will then have a delicious salad with mixed greens, carrots, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, and avocado. Add a Beyond Meat patty for extra protein. Select one of their vegan-friendly salad dressings, such as Balsamic Vinaigrette, Lemon Vinaigrette, Sweet Heat Mango Vinaigrette, or Sesame Citrus dressing.
House Salad (Modified Vegan)
Order the House salad with no cheese, croutons, or breadsticks. Your salad will have mixed greens, diced tomatoes, sliced carrots, cabbage, and cucumbers. Select Balsamic Vinaigrette, Lemon Vinaigrette, Sweet Heat Mango Vinaigrette, or Sesame Citrus for your dressing. Add a Beyond Meat patty if you would like a little more protein.
Desserts for Vegans at TGIF
Unfortunately, you cannot have dessert at TGI Fridays, unless you want fresh fruit. Their menu does not have any vegan-friendly desserts. If dessert is a must-have, you will have to pick up your favorite plant-based treat on the way home.
Modify the TGI Fridays Menu for a Vegan Meal
TGI Fridays has a long way to go toward being considered a vegan-friendly establishment, but it is still possible to create a plant-based meal with a few creative modifications. Remember that menu offerings may differ from one location to another. Some suggested items may not be available at your local TGI Fridays, but your server should be able to help you make other selections if they do not carry what you want.
